Drugs in Dentistry Update 2005, Including Herbal Remedies

This all new nuts and bolts course for 2005 will present the most current information on drugs in dentistry and drugs taken by your medically compromised dental patients, and separate fact from fallacy about mainstream and not-so-mainstream herbal remedies, and herbal dental remedies and alternative agents. You will be brought up-to-date with new dental drugs including the new COX-2 inhibitors for pain, important new medical drugs such as Celebrex and Enbrel for arthritis, and the new weight control drugs replacing Redux and Fen-Phen. Antibiotics will be discussed relative to FAQs about pre-medication issues, and what is currently being used for oral-facial infections; the top 50 drugs in medicine and their dental implications will be described; and sedatives and tranquilizers for oral sedation will be presented. You will be given the drug combinations to stay away from, alternate drugs to use and useful Internet drug information Web sites. FAQs of the herbal blockbusters and herbals used in dental practice will be answered. A sampling of products discussed includes Arnica Montana, Tom’s of Maine dentifrice, Antiseptic Tooth and Gum Tonic, Tea Tree Oil, Kava-Kava, Echinacea, St. John’s Wort, Ginkgo Biloba, Feverfew, Garlic, Ginseng, Grape Seed Extract, Green Tea, Cat’s Claw, Devil’s Claw, Par D’Arco, Saw Palmetto, to name but a few. Also, alternative remedies such as Cosamine DS, SAM-c, CoQ-10 and Creatine will be presented. This course will increase your knowledge base on both conventional drugs in dental practice and herbal and alternative remedies.
